The body is meant to move. What a joy to facilitate my clients' discoveries of what their bodies are fully capable of doing. Then to create new blueprints together to continue going in the right direction. It is a privilege.

Pilates : More than an exercise system, a way of life.Sabrina was born to French parents in New York and she began studying ballet at the age of 5. During her formative years, she trained under Frank Ohman, former soloist with Balanchine’s NYC Ballet. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in dance: University of Texas at Austin, which is where she first discovered equipment-based Pilates. Her work in the Pilates studio allowed her to remain pain and injury free throughout her grueling schedule. Thoroughly convinced of the merits of the Pilates method, Sabrina decided to pursue formal training in the Pilates Method. In 1998, after careful deliberation, she chose the PhysicalMind Institute as her certifying body, who were operating under the program developed by First Generation teacher Eve Gentry (Joseph Pilates' associate for 30 years.) Sabrina relocated to New York City and was fortunate to study and apprentice under Kelly Kane. Ms. Kane's approach to Pilates went far beyond the usual nature of a Pilates program and included training in manual perception skills. It is thanks to training under her mentor that Sabrina was able to access these important skills within herself. Upon completion of her apprenticeship in 1999 Sabrina was offered a prestigious position working alongside her mentor. Despite being incredibly honored and tempted, Sabrina declined the job to keep ample time for dance rehearsals and performances. She began teaching private sessions at a gym on New York City's Upper East Side. In 2000 Sabrina headed southwest for her exit test with the PhysicalMind Institute in Santa Fe. With her certification under her belt, she opened her own studio in the North Houston area which she ran successfully until 2011 when she moved to France. In 2012 Accès Pilates was officially in business in Manosque. Other pursuits outside of the Pilates studio... In 2008 Sabrina took up Chinese martial arts. And, while dance always figures prominently in her life, choreography continues to preoccupy her creative mind. Permaculture. Everywhere she lives, she plants food forests. (Although digging holes in Provence is more laborious than Houston!) |
